This quest is available once you defeat the Ancient Dragon on Normal difficulty and turn in any quest, or finish the Hermit quest chain in the Lost Woods for the second time. Within the game menu, this quest is preceded by Search and Resurrection and followed by Bear Witness.
Medusa is a snake monster who appeared deep within the ancient ruins. The moment you look into her beautiful, gem-like eyes, you will become a mineral yourself. At least, that's what the myths say.
These myths are important, because Medusa has apparently returned from those days of myth. The knights' order that the Temple is affiliated with is trying to perform a ritual to put Medusa to rest by following the old legend, which states that it was done by severing Medusa's head and offering it to the goddess.
However, many knight-monks have been turned into stone while trying to attempt this. As one of the strongest in our guild, we ask you to go alone, and return with Medusa's head.
You defeated Medusa alone.
You must do this quest alone without the help of other players or NPCs. At Dragon's Haven Inn, change your party join settings to "Join Off". Alternatively, switch off NPC join settings in Game Options 2 and remain offline. Medusa is not too hard by herself, but the snakes will interrupt you if you don't deal with them. Her most annoying attack is her petrification gaze. Simply turn to the other side from where her eyes are to avoid the attack. You can also equip a pendant with immunity to petrification. The Sorceress and the Wizard can use spells to deal with the snakes while they focus on Medusa. The Dwarf can use the rock to deal with the snakes, while the Elf can use her clone arrow/charge attack. The Amazon and the Fighter might have a little more difficulties dealing the the snakes while defending themselves from Medusa attacks. After damaging her a lot, she will start using kind a laser eye attack, which is her more dangerous weapon. Dodge it by going to the direction in which she is looking at you: if she's to the right of your character, go to the right, if she's to the left, go left. If you have problems to complete this quest, tune down the difficulty level.
