Doom Beetles which are influenced by strong magic while still in cocoons may sometimes emerge with a giant horn. The magician Wallace seems to have made a connection between the magic and the beetles' evolution, and had been working to speed up their mutation process.
Surprisingly, Rickey is a successful example of Wallace's experiments. Rickey squeaks enthusiastically and says that he will work to complete his master's research.
